India chair Of The Security Council For The Month Of December

Today, the Indian mission to the United Nations assumes the presidency of the Security Council for the month of December, succeeding the presidency of the Ghana mission during the month of last November.

During her presidency, Ghana organized two special events. The first was an open discussion at the ministerial level on the theme “Integrating Effective Resilience Building into Peace Operations for Sustainable Peace”. It was chaired by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorekur Bochoi, and briefings were provided by Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Bankul Adeoye, Chair of The Elders Mary Robinson, and Executive Director of the Security Council Report Karen Landgren.


The second event is a discussion on "Fighting Terrorism in Africa - An Imperative for Peace, Security and Development". The meeting was chaired by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, with the participation of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Musa Faki Mahamat, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the representative of civil society.
