Ebrahim Raisi held several positions in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Between 2004 and 2014, Raisi served as First Deputy Head of the Judicial Authority during the second term of the presidency of Al-Hashemi Shahroudi, and the first term of the presidency of Sadiq Larijani, then he became Prosecutor General of the entire country between 2015 and 2017. He has also headed the Special Court for the Clergy since 2012. Since 2007, Raisi has remained a member of the Assembly of Experts and one of eleven members who make up the committee to appoint Iran’s Supreme Leader.


In 2016, the Leader of the Revolution, Ali Khamenei, appointed him head of the Razavi Holy Shrine Foundation, succeeding Abbas Vaez Tabasi. Thus, he became the guardian of one of the richest religious organizations in the Islamic world, which is responsible for managing the most important religious shrines in Iran.
